Earlier this year, Josh Adam Jones, was asked by good friend, Naoise O’Keeffe to take part in a collaboration between the newspaper Hot Potato, which she is the founder and editor of, and software Picter.

Hot Potato is publication that outwardly looks like a newspaper, and inside pairs photography with articles about global issues. This summer they collaborated with Picter, which is a new photography sharing platform which allows photographers and creatives to easily share or review images together.

To advertise the new platform, Hot Potato printed a special, one off, Picter Newspaper, and then commissioned a selection of photographers and artists across the world to capture images of the newspaper in their own unique way.

Josh says he chose to photograph his partner Lauren using the Picter Newspaper as a towel in various scenarios. Josh’s Mum, Tracy, (who is a whiz on her sewing machine) lovingly sewed the newspaper to the correct size. Then Josh’s partner Lauren used the newspaper/towel around the house, before finally hanging it to dry on the washing line outside.

Josh said he particularly enjoyed working on this project because he was able to see the different ways everyone responded to the same brief, from sculpture to still life, and origami to portraiture!
